Magnesium Desulphurization Reagent

Product Details

Magnesium Desulphurization Reagent / Magnesium Desulfurizer / Mg-based Sulfur Reducer

Magnesium desulphurization reagent (Magnesium Desulfurizer) is a chemical compound used to remove sulfur impurities through the high reactivity of magnesium. It is primarily applied in the steel-making and oil and gas refining industries. By leveraging magnesium’s strong affinity for sulfur, the reagent effectively binds to and removes sulfur compounds, thereby improving end product quality.

Welcome to send us your requirements. We supply all kinds of Magnesium Desulphurization Reagents (MG97/03, MG90/10, MG80/20, MG95/05 etc.) and Magnesium powders, with regular granular size, good flowability, highly efficient reduction of sulphur to lowest ratios in a comparatively short process time.

Applications

Magnesium desulphurization reagent is primarily used in the following areas:

Petroleum and Natural Gas Refining:  To remove sulfur impurities and improve product quality.

Steel Manufacturing:  For hot metal desulphurization, reducing sulfur content and enhancing steel quality.

Wet Flue Gas Desulphurization:  In thermal power plants, magnesium-enhanced lime (a mixture of calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide) can be used to remove sulfur dioxide from flue gases.

Advantages

High Efficiency:  Magnesium has an extremely strong chemical affinity for sulfur, making it one of the most effective desulphurizers available. It can achieve very low final sulfur contents (often below 0.001% or 10 ppm); 20 times faster than lime and 7 times more effective than calcium carbide.

Low Slag Production:  Generates minimal slag, low iron loss.

Speed:  The reaction is very fast, allowing for shorter treatment times compared to some older methods.

Cleaner Steel: Produces a cleaner steel with superior mechanical properties and better castability in continuous casting.

Versatility:  Effective across a wide range of initial sulfur contents.

Reagent Yield:  The use of cored wire or co-injection techniques ensures high utilization efficiency of the magnesium, reducing consumption and cost.

Environmental Friendliness:  Recyclable after use, environmentally friendly.

Precautions

When using magnesium desulfurization reagent, it is essential to handle it with care and ensure safety. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines.
